Fairy School 101

Once upon a time, Fairy Godmother asked Mickey Mouse if I could join Fairy Godmother in fairy school at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! Fairy school would require 1,000 years of school and a lot of magic homework. Although I don't really like the sound of being in school for 1,000 years and having homework, I said OF COURSE I'll join Fairy school!!

The best part about Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is that every day I go to work, it feels as if I have stepped inside a fairy tale book. For hours, I get to be creative by creating my own magical story for all little boys and girls that step into the boutique. My favorite part is making them truly believe in magic. By the end of their experience, I make even the non believers believe they have their very own Fairy Godmother in Training (because they do).

Along with making magical moments for the boys and girls, I like to make sure the mom and dad feel the magic too! I actually started saying something funny when the moms or dad were paying for the entire experience at the boutique. I began asking the king and queen, "Now who is making the royal payment today, the king or queen?" LAUGHTER would burst from the parents... (Sometimes, my joke just wouldn't land with the crowd, but all the fairies around me thought it was so hilarious so I could always count on my fairy friends to giggle).

Every time the king and queen made a purchase, I would hand them their receipt and say, "CONGRATULATIONS KING, you just made the royal payment!!!!!" Hilarious. I am hilarious.

The most magical part of the day each day happens at 2pm. The Royal Procession! This has been my most favorite magic to be a part of! Let me paint a picture.. Princesses and royal knights from near and far travel back to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and us fairies get to teach them a few sayings for our parade! One of my favorite things to have the princesses do is princess wave and chant, "elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, always smile and blow a kiss", while the knights throw their swords in the air and yell, "charge!"

The 2pm Royal Procession:

The best part about my role at The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is that it doesn't feel like I am "working". I get to play, sing, and dance all day along!

Do I get nervous around princesses and knights? ABSOLUTELY. Once the royal families enter the boutique, I sometimes can get really nervous because I want to make sure the queen, king, and their princesses and knights are happy! I have definitely encountered some royal families that weren't too happy at some point during the transformations, but us fairies always try to make sure we do the best we can to make sure they leave with the biggest smiles on their faces!

I like to call myself a "perfectionist fairy" because I get really nervous with doing the princesses hair, makeup, and nails. I want to make sure they look perfectly beautiful! The moment I start to think I am messing up their hairstyle, I start to panic. I think the most important lesson I need to learn from that and get better at is being a confident fairy! I do a really good job at keeping smiles on royal families faces, so I think that helps. I think it is a good sign that I get nervous each time I encounter royal families because I think that shows me and others that I truly care about the transformation! I care so much about making everyone feel magic when around me!

I am so happy that I get to work at such a magical place where it just feels like I get to play all day long! Right now, I am currently 322 years old in fairy years, and I can already tell you I will be very sad when I turn a thousand years old and am set off on a journey to find my own princess to be a true Fairy Godmother for. I can't wait to get back to fairy school.

Xoxo, Fairy Godmother in Training Courtney

Ps. Let’s be honest here, if Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique let adults get princess transformations, you know where I’d be on my days off...... Let me paint the picture
